Luka Doncic recorded 19 points, 15 rebounds, and 12 assists in his first game against the Dallas Mavericks since being traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. His triple-double led the Lakers to a 107-99 victory on Tuesday night.

The game was emotional for Doncic, who was shocked by the trade that sent him to Los Angeles in exchange for Anthony Davis three weeks ago. Despite the unexpected move, he embraced his former teammates before the game. However, throughout the night, he glanced at the Mavericks' bench, showing mixed emotions. He had trouble finding his shot, making only six of his 17 attempts, but his passing was on point. His final assist set up LeBron James for a crucial layup with 32 seconds left, sealing the Lakers’ win.

James stepped up in the fourth quarter, scoring 16 of his 27 points to help Los Angeles secure its third consecutive win and its 13th victory in 16 games.

On the Mavericks’ side, Kyrie Irving put up an impressive 35 points, while Klay Thompson contributed 22. Despite their efforts, Dallas fell short.

The trade remains a controversial topic among Mavericks fans. Dallas general manager Nico Harrison, who orchestrated the deal, received an unexpected response from Lakers fans, who chanted, "Thank you, Nico!" throughout the game.

Game Highlights

Mavericks: Max Christie, who was part of the trade deal alongside Davis, scored all 10 of his points in the first half.

Lakers: James ensured Doncic had a winning return in his first matchup against his former team.

A Key Moment

Although Davis couldn’t play due to a groin injury, the Lakers honored him with a tribute video during the first quarter. Fans gave him a standing ovation, and he acknowledged them by waving with both arms.

Stat to Remember

Doncic's triple-double was the 81st of his career, making him seventh in NBA history. It was also his fourth this season, with his last one for Dallas recorded on December 15.
