The Ottawa Senators secured a hard-fought 4-3 win against the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday night. Thomas Chabot and Tim Stutzle struck early in the first period, setting the tone for Ottawa’s victory. Goaltender Linus Ullmark was solid between the pipes, stopping 31 shots. David Perron and Michael Amadio also found the back of the net, helping the Senators maintain their grip on the Eastern Conference’s first wild-card spot.

Detroit rallied late, scoring three times in the third period, but it wasn’t enough. Lucas Raymond led the charge with a goal and an assist, while Patrick Kane and Vladimir Tarasenko also tallied for the Red Wings, who have now lost four of their last five. Alex Lyon had a rough night in goal, allowing three goals on 10 shots before being replaced by Cam Talbot, who made 21 saves.

Sabres Crush Penguins 7-3 as Crosby Makes History

Buffalo made a statement with a dominant 7-3 win over Pittsburgh, fueled by Jiri Kulich’s two-goal performance in a five-goal second period. Tage Thompson, Alex Tuch, Peyton Krebs, Tyson Kozak, and Mattias Samuelsson also scored, while goalie James Reimer made 22 saves for his third consecutive win.

Despite the loss, Sidney Crosby carved his name into the NHL record books. His goal in the first period secured his 80th point of the season, ensuring he averages at least a point per game for the 20th straight year—surpassing Wayne Gretzky’s record. Kevin Hayes and Blake Lizotte scored for Pittsburgh, which has now dropped four of its last five.

Lightning Dominate Utah 8-0 in Shutout Victory

Tampa Bay ran over Utah with a commanding 8-0 victory, thanks to stellar performances from Jake Guentzel and Oliver Bjorkstrand, who each scored twice. Andrei Vasilevskiy was unbeatable in goal, recording his sixth shutout of the season with 25 saves. Nikita Kucherov had a standout night, scoring once and assisting on three others.

Utah’s goaltending struggled, as starter Karel Vejmelka allowed four goals on 11 shots before being pulled midway through the second period. Backup Jaxson Stauber didn’t fare much better, surrendering four more goals on 10 shots.

Flyers Beat Canadiens 6-4 in First Game After Coaching Change

Philadelphia ended a six-game skid with a 6-4 win over Montreal, just hours after firing head coach John Tortorella. Matvei Michkov shined with two goals and an assist, helping the Flyers snap their losing streak under interim coach Brad Shaw.

Montreal fought back with goals from Alex Newhook, Cole Caufield, Patrik Laine, and Christian Dvorak, but they couldn’t overcome Philadelphia’s aggressive offence. Samuel Ersson made 26 saves to secure the win for the Flyers.
