The Seattle Kraken snapped their three-game losing streak in style, crushing the Edmonton Oilers 6-1 on Thursday night. Jaden Schwartz led the charge with two goals, while Jani Nyman and Matty Beniers delivered back-to-back strikes within just 16 seconds. Goaltender Joey Daccord put on a stellar performance, stopping 36 shots to keep the Oilers at bay.

Andre Burakovsky and Jared McCann also found the net, with the Kraken’s offensive explosion coming in a five-goal second period. Meanwhile, Zach Hyman was the lone goal scorer for Edmonton, whose struggles continued despite efforts from their goaltending duo. Calvin Pickard, stepping in for Stuart Skinner, made 24 saves before Olivier Rodrigue took over in the final period, adding seven more stops.

The Oilers played without superstars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl for the third straight game, a setback that left them struggling to generate offence. The night also saw plenty of drama with two coach’s challenges. Jeff Skinner thought he had scored late in the first period, but Seattle successfully challenged for a missed stoppage after Connor Brown high-sticked the puck just before the shot. In the second period, Jordan Eberle’s goal was overturned following an offside review initiated by Edmonton.

Takeaways from the Game

  • Kraken’s Offensive Surge: Seattle’s six-goal performance marked their third time hitting that mark in March, proving their offensive firepower.
  • Oilers’ Scoring Woes: Edmonton has now lost two consecutive games, scoring just once in each contest, both in the third period.

Game-Changing Moment

With just over nine minutes left in the second period, Nyman tipped in a shot for his third career goal. Before the Oilers could regroup, Beniers struck just 16 seconds later, capitalizing on a crisp pass and burying his shot past Pickard. The two quick goals completely shifted the momentum in Seattle’s favour.

Stats to Know

Seattle has been lethal on the power play, scoring four goals with the man advantage in their last three games.

What’s Next?

The Oilers will try to bounce back when they host the Calgary Flames on Saturday, while the Kraken remain in Seattle for a pair of home games against the Dallas Stars.
