Seattle Kraken goalie Joey Daccord delivered a flawless performance, stopping all 25 shots he faced as his team cruised past the Vancouver Canucks 5-0 on Wednesday. The decisive victory not only secured Seattle’s dominance on the ice but also pushed Vancouver further away from a potential playoff spot.

Kraken’s Offensive Firepower

Seattle’s offense came alive with goals from Mikey Eyssimont, Chandler Stephenson, Shane Wright, and Andre Burakovsky. Adam Larsson sealed the win with an empty-netter, while Burakovsky contributed an assist. Former Canuck Jared McCann and Vince Dunn each registered two assists, adding to Vancouver’s struggles.

Meanwhile, Vancouver’s Thatcher Demko had a tough night, managing just 15 saves. With this loss, his record for the season dropped to 8-8-3. The home crowd at Rogers Arena made their frustration clear, booing their team off the ice as the final seconds ticked down.

Canucks’ Playoff Hopes in Jeopardy

Vancouver’s defeat leaves them eight points behind the Minnesota Wild and St. Louis Blues, who currently occupy the two Western Conference wild-card spots. With the season winding down, every point is crucial, and this loss significantly dents their postseason aspirations.

Struggles on the power play also played a role in Vancouver’s downfall. The Canucks went 0-for-3 with the man advantage, while the Kraken failed to convert on two power-play opportunities. This marked the fourth time Vancouver has been shut out this season—and the third time it has happened on home ice.

Game Highlights & Turning Point

Vancouver started strong, generating two power plays within the first five minutes. However, Daccord’s sharp reflexes denied them an early lead. His key save came on a two-on-one play, where he robbed Drew O’Connor with a spectacular glove stop.

Seattle broke the deadlock late in the first period when Eyssimont intercepted a pass from Jake DeBrusk in the neutral zone. He raced in and slipped the puck between Demko’s pads, securing what would ultimately be the game-winning goal. The tally marked Eyssimont’s eighth of the season and his third since joining Seattle in March.

Daccord’s Perfect Night

This shutout marked the fifth of Daccord’s career and his second this season—the first coming in November against Nashville. His stellar goaltending was even more impressive given Seattle’s injury struggles, with top scorers Jaden Schwartz and Eeli Tolvanen both sidelined.

Despite their dominant win, the Kraken’s playoff hopes are already dashed. They were eliminated from contention over the weekend, making this their third time missing the postseason in four years.

What’s Next?

The Canucks will stay home for a crucial matchup against the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday, hoping to turn things around. Meanwhile, Seattle continues its five-game road trip, facing the San Jose Sharks next.
