Virginia Giuffre, known for accusing Prince Andrew and Jeffrey Epstein of sexual abuse, has died by suicide at 41. Her family confirmed the sad news, saying she had struggled deeply with the impact of her past abuse.

Giuffre was a strong voice against Epstein and his former girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell. She said they trafficked her to Prince Andrew when she was just 17 years old. Prince Andrew has always denied her claims.

In a heartfelt statement on Friday, her family called her a "fierce warrior in the fight against sexual abuse." They said, "the toll of abuse... became unbearable," leading to her death. They also described Giuffre as "the light that lifted so many survivors." She passed away at her farm in Western Australia.

Police said they were called to a home in the Neergabby area on Friday night. They found Ms. Giuffre unresponsive. Officials added that her death is under investigation but early signs show it is not suspicious.

Giuffre was born in the United States. She had been living with her husband, Robert, and their three children in North Perth. However, recent reports said the couple had separated after 22 years of marriage.

Only three weeks before her death, Giuffre had shared a post on Instagram. She mentioned she was seriously injured in a car crash. Her family later said she had not meant for the news to become public. Police later said the crash was not as serious as first claimed.

After she went public with her story, Giuffre became a leading voice in the fight against sexual abuse. She was also closely tied to the Me Too movement.

She repeated that Epstein and Maxwell trafficked her to Prince Andrew when she was a teenager. Prince Andrew denied all the allegations but reached an out-of-court settlement with her in 2022. As part of the deal, he said he regretted his association with Epstein but admitted no guilt or wrongdoing.

Giuffre said her nightmare began when she met Maxwell in 2000. Maxwell then introduced her to Epstein. Giuffre alleged years of sexual abuse at the hands of Epstein and others connected to him.

Epstein died by suicide in prison in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. He had earlier been convicted in 2008 for soliciting prostitution from a minor.

Maxwell was later sentenced to 20 years in a U.S. prison for helping Epstein in his trafficking activities.

Giuffre's death has shocked many around the world. She fought bravely to expose powerful figures and gave strength to countless survivors of abuse. Her story will be remembered as a voice for those who suffered in silence.
