U.S. President Donald Trump didn’t mince words on Sunday as he reacted to Russia’s latest military escalation in Ukraine. Following the most intense aerial attack since the war began three years ago, Trump labeled Russian President Vladimir Putin as “absolutely CRAZY.”

The overnight strike, reportedly involving waves of drones and missiles, left at least 12 dead, including children. Dozens more were injured as cities across Ukraine faced relentless bombardment.

Trump Breaks Silence on Russia-Ukraine War

In a fiery Truth Social post, Trump shared his outrage.
“I’ve always had a very good relationship with Vladimir Putin,” he began. “But something has changed. He’s gone absolutely CRAZY! Missiles and drones are being fired into Ukrainian cities for no reason. He’s killing innocent people — not just soldiers.”

Earlier, while speaking to reporters, Trump said he was disturbed by the Russian leader’s behavior.
“I don’t know what the hell happened to Putin,” he remarked.

Putin’s Deadly Strike Met with Global Concern

The deadly air assault was the latest in Russia’s intensified campaign against Ukraine. It came just days after international leaders urged Putin to consider a ceasefire.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky responded swiftly, warning that “America’s silence” only empowers Moscow’s aggression.

Trump Fires Back at Zelensky

Trump didn’t hold back from criticizing Ukraine’s leader either.
“President Zelenskyy is doing his country no favors,” Trump wrote. “Everything he says stirs up more problems. I don’t like it. And it needs to stop.”

Despite the tensions, Zelensky has continued calling for stronger global action — including further U.S. sanctions on Russia.

U.S. Response in Question as Sanctions Hang in the Balance

Speaking to reporters Sunday evening, Trump said he was “absolutely” considering new sanctions against Russia. This marks a shift from his previous stance, where he had ruled out fresh sanctions, citing potential progress in peace talks.

“I was surprised by the level of the assault,” Trump admitted. “We’re in the middle of discussions, and he’s launching rockets at Kyiv and other cities.”

Hope for Ceasefire Talks After Escalation

Just a week prior, Trump had spoken directly with Putin in hopes of brokering a truce. The call, followed by conversations with Zelensky and European leaders, led to a promising announcement.

“Russia and Ukraine will immediately start negotiations toward a ceasefire and, more importantly, an END to the war,” Trump said.

He emphasized that only Ukraine and Russia can truly understand the conditions needed for peace.
“They know the details. It’s their war. They must decide the terms.”

War Rages On as Leaders Clash

Despite diplomatic efforts, the brutal conflict continues. The latest attack underscores how volatile the situation remains, even as negotiations begin.

Zelensky warned that the world cannot ignore the crisis.
“The war doesn’t stop for weekends or holidays. Silence from America and the world helps Putin,” he said.

As airstrikes increase and political tensions deepen, the world watches closely. Whether Trump’s proposed ceasefire will hold remains uncertain — but the urgency for peace has never been clearer.
