Barcelona closed their sensational La Liga season in style with a dominant 3-0 win over Athletic Club. The champions showcased their class in Bilbao, marking a perfect end to a treble-winning campaign under Hansi Flick.

Lightning Start by La Liga Giants

Barcelona wasted no time in asserting control. Just 14 minutes into the game, Robert Lewandowski chipped Athletic goalkeeper Unai Simon with confidence, netting Barcelona’s 100th league goal of the season.

Three minutes later, Lewandowski struck again. This time, he rose at the far post to head in Raphinha’s curling corner. Two goals in under 20 minutes silenced the San Mames crowd and cemented Barcelona’s early dominance.

Lewandowski Hits 40 for the Season

The Polish striker’s brace took his La Liga tally to 27 goals and his total season count to 40. He remains just behind Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe, who leads the league scoring chart with 31 goals.

Lewandowski had chances for a hat-trick early in the second half but couldn’t find the net again. Still, his impact was enough to secure the win for the Catalan club.

Olmo Wraps It Up in Style

Barcelona’s third goal came deep into stoppage time. Substitute Dani Olmo was fouled in the box by Yuri Berchiche. He stepped up and calmly slotted home from the spot in the 94th minute, sealing the match at 3-0.

A Treble in Flick’s First Year

The win confirmed Barcelona’s domestic treble, having already secured the La Liga, Copa del Rey, and Spanish Super Cup. Flick’s debut season could hardly have been more successful.

Barcelona finished the league with 88 points, winning 28 games and drawing four. They ended four points ahead of arch-rivals Real Madrid, proving their consistency across the season.

Athletic Club Misses Key Chances

Despite the scoreline, Athletic Club had their chances, especially in the first half. Striker Maroan Sannadi wasted two golden opportunities.

He first failed to convert from six yards after a precise cross from Unai Nunez. Moments later, he missed again when one-on-one with keeper Inaki Pena, following a well-placed through ball from captain Oscar de Marcos.

De Marcos Bids an Emotional Farewell

The match marked a special occasion for Athletic Club’s Oscar de Marcos, who made his 570th and final appearance for the team.

The veteran captain received a rousing ovation as he was subbed off in the 89th minute, handing the armband to future leader Inaki Williams.

Barca’s Backline Holds Firm

Athletic came close to scoring in the second half when Pau Cubarsi’s defensive header deflected onto the crossbar. But overall, Barcelona’s defense stood strong, with Inaki Pena making key saves when called upon.

Athletic Secure Champions League Spot

Despite the loss, Athletic Club had already secured a top-four finish and Champions League qualification. They ended the season in fourth place, level on 70 points with Villarreal.

A Season to Remember for Barcelona

From Lewandowski’s goals to Flick’s flawless strategy, Barcelona’s season was full of standout moments. With three trophies in the cabinet and a new era underway, fans have every reason to be excited for what comes next.

Barcelona’s dominance, combined with star performances, has set the bar high. The treble is complete—and the future looks bright.
