Over 67,000 deodorant packs pulled from stores due to safety issue. The Independent
A well-known deodorant brand has pulled thousands of products from stores due to a manufacturing issue. The company behind Power Stick deodorants, A.P. Deauville, along with U.S. health authorities, issued the recall last week. The recall began on July 10 and affects more than 67,000 cases of various roll-on antiperspirants.
Officials said the deodorants did not follow the proper manufacturing process. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) calls this a “cGMP deviation,” which means the company did not meet the required production standards.
Products Affected in the Recall
The recall affects three types of Power Stick deodorants:
- Power Stick for Her Roll-On Antiperspirant (Power Fresh scent): Over 20,000 cases recalled
- Power Stick Invisible Protection Roll-On (Spring Fresh scent): Around 22,400 cases pulled
- Power Stick Original Nourishing Invisible Protection Roll-On: Over 23,400 cases recalled
These products were sold at major retailers. Walmart offered three-packs for $21. Dollar Tree sold 24-pack bundles for $30. Customers also bought them online from popular shopping sites.
Lot Numbers to Check
Customers can find the lot number on the deodorant bottle. The following lots are part of the recall:
Power Stick for Her (Power Fresh):
032026B011, 032226B031, 051626C241, 061526C882, 071226D371, 071226D381, 082526E341, 082826E402
Power Stick Invisible Protection (Spring Fresh):
031726A991, 041226B561, 062026C901, 062026C911, 071026D351, 071026D361, 071326D391, 111626G231

Only these deodorants are part of the recall. Other A.P. Deauville products like shampoos, body washes, and facial wipes remain safe and are not affected.
Why It Matters
While the recall has not linked the deodorants to any injuries or health risks, the issue lies in the way the items were made. Companies must follow strict rules when making personal care items to make sure they are safe to use.
Recent Rise in Product Recalls
Product recalls have increased over the last two years. A report shared that in 2024, nearly 300 food recalls happened, which led to around 1,400 cases of illness. Out of those, 487 people had to go to the hospital. Sadly, 19 people died.
Experts are trying to understand why recalls are happening more often. Another recent case involved a popular yogurt brand. It recalled its products after plastic pieces were found in topping containers. The sharp plastic could cause choking or other injuries.
What to Do Now
If you use any of the recalled Power Stick products, stop using them right away. Check the lot number printed on your deodorant to see if it matches any in the recall. You can return the product or contact the manufacturer for more guidance.
