Nelly Furtado made a strong statement at Manchester Pride with her outfit. She wore a shirt featuring a cartoon figure dressed in a denim mini skirt with a giant gold “Woah Nelly” belt buckle. The design paid tribute to her 2000 debut album. Across the cartoon’s back was a tattoo that read, “Better than ever.”
Furtado matched the look with black fishnet tights and bright pink gloves. She styled her hair in a high ponytail braid. Sparkling diamond jewellery, including a choker and earrings, completed her look.
A nod to her music
The tattoo phrase echoed one of her latest songs, “Better Than Ever,” featured on her 2024 album 7. The Canadian singer used her fashion choice to connect past and present while sending a clear message of confidence.
Her approach to body image
Earlier this year, Furtado opened up about her body image on social media. She shared a selfie in an orange bikini and spoke about her focus on body neutrality in 2025.
“This year I became aware of the aesthetic pressure of my work in a brand new way, while simultaneously I experienced new levels of self-love and genuine confidence from within,” she wrote.

Addressing rumours
The singer also revealed she had to take legal action against people spreading false claims about her appearance. She clarified she had never had cosmetic surgery or fillers. The only change she admitted was dental veneers.
She credited her skincare routine, hydration, rest, and the skills of makeup artists and stylists for her looks. She said, “Makeup can do magical things! So can great eyebrows! So can a great hairstylist! So can great underthings!”
No filters, no edits
Furtado shared that she often posts unedited photos with no filters or heavy makeup. She admitted to using a spray tan and even pointed out her spider veins, saying they reminded her of family.
A New Year’s message
Furtado also shared her 2025 message with fans. “Express yourself freely, celebrate your individuality and know that it’s perfectly OK to be OK with what you see in the mirror, and it’s also OK to want something different. We are all cute little humans just bouncing around the earth looking for hugs.”
