Scarlett Johansson stole the spotlight Monday night at the Toronto International Film Festival. She arrived for the premiere of her directorial debut Eleanor the Great in a blush-pink Valentino gown. The open-back dress revealed her rarely-seen tattoos, including a vine of roses and a lamb motif. She paired the look with diamanté earrings, silver rings, and a soft pink lip. Her blonde hair was slicked into a chic bun, highlighting her elegant style.
Her Tattoo Story
Scarlett first revealed her back tattoos in 2017. She displayed them publicly at the Met Gala the following year. Along with her floral design and lamb, she reportedly has a hidden Avengers tattoo shared with her co-stars. Her bold ink drew attention on the red carpet, surprising fans who rarely get a glimpse of it.

Directorial Debut
Eleanor the Great marks Scarlett’s first film as a director. The story follows 94-year-old Eleanor Morgenstein, played by June Squibb, who leaves Florida for New York after her best friend’s death. She joins a support group for Holocaust survivors and soon finds herself entangled in secrets. Scarlett said the project felt personal because of its ties to New York and themes of Jewish identity. “It had so many elements that I felt very connected to,” she explained.
June Squibb Praises Scarlett
The film’s lead actress, June Squibb, praised Scarlett’s work behind the camera. She described her as natural and supportive. “She knew immediately what I was doing, where I was going and how I was shifting everything,” Squibb said. “That’s wonderful because you don’t often have that.”
Real Survivors in the Film
Scarlett chose to include actual Holocaust survivors in the film, something she felt was vital. “It wasn’t really ever a question of whether we would cast real survivors,” she said. “It was more of how can we identify people that would want to participate.” She added that the team felt lucky to find survivors who embraced the project.

Family Support
Scarlett’s husband, comedian Colin Jost, quietly supported her at the premiere. She confirmed he will return to Saturday Night Live this season despite cuts to the cast. She also hinted that she would love to guest star again. “I think that’s basically the MO over at 30 Rock,” she said, describing how last-minute decisions shape the show each week.
A Night to Remember
With her striking look, meaningful tattoos, and a major film debut, Scarlett made her TIFF appearance unforgettable. She celebrated not just as a Hollywood star but also as a filmmaker ready to share a deeply personal story.
