Former U.S. President Barack Obama caught everyone off guard during a surprise visit to Washington, D.C., on Thursday, November 6. The 64-year-old walked on stage at Crooked Media’s first-ever Crooked Con, drawing loud cheers from the audience.

As the hosts wrapped up their introductions, Obama stepped out with his usual charm and joked, “And I’m Barack Obama.” The crowd erupted in excitement, clearly delighted to see him.

A New Look for the Former President

Known for his polished suits and dress shirts, Obama took on a more casual style this time. He wore grey jeans, a navy-blue sweater, and a blue waxed jacket. The outfit gave him a relaxed and modern look that many described as “Michelle-inspired.”

His wife, Michelle Obama, has long been praised for her sense of fashion. Many fans commented that Barack seemed to have taken a page from her style book.

Obama Shares His Message

While his appearance surprised the audience, his speech carried a deeper message. Obama spoke about unity and the importance of political involvement.

“Your task is not to impose litmus tests,” he said. “We are all part of a vision for the future.” He urged people to stay engaged and keep working toward a fair and respectful society.

Obama reminded the audience that even after recent Democratic wins in several states and cities, “liberals have got a lot of work to do.” He emphasized that Americans must focus on common ground and genuine connection, saying, “There are fights that are going to have to be fought, but deep down there is something core in us that we have in common.”

He ended with an uplifting thought about unity: “When America is at its best and leans into this notion that out of many can come one—that’s the conversation you need to have. I love them. I love you.”

About Crooked Media

Crooked Media was founded by Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett, and Tommy Vietor, all of whom worked for Obama during his time in office. Favreau and Lovett served as speechwriters, while Vietor handled communications and later joined the National Security Council. Dan Pfeiffer, a former senior advisor for strategy, also helped launch the organization.

Their media company began after the 2016 U.S. election, aiming to encourage open political discussions and civic involvement. Obama’s surprise visit celebrated the group’s growing influence and its first major public event.

Michelle Obama’s Style Legacy

Michelle Obama remains one of the world’s most admired public figures. She recently released her new book, “The Look,” which explores her fashion journey through more than 200 photographs, including never-before-seen images.

In an interview, she recalled her early days as a lawyer, saying she wore “1980s power suits” with strong shoulders and pantyhose, joking, “I don’t know what he saw. That doesn’t sound very sexy.”

Her new book celebrates how she used fashion to express confidence and purpose—from the campaign trail to her years in the White House.
