The Seattle Seahawks delivered one of the most dramatic wins of the NFL season on Thursday night. Facing a near-certain sweep by the Los Angeles Rams, Seattle instead staged a furious comeback to clinch a playoff spot and seize control of its NFC postseason path.

Seahawks Rewrite the NFC West Script

The Seahawks looked finished midway through the fourth quarter at Lumen Field. Down by 16 points, Seattle’s playoff hopes appeared to be slipping away fast.

Less than two minutes later, everything changed.

Seattle rallied to force overtime, then sealed a 38–37 victory that flipped the NFC West race and stunned a national audience.

Sam Darnold Delivers When It Matters

Quarterback Sam Darnold authored the defining moment of Seattle’s season. After a rough Week 11 loss to the Rams filled with interceptions, he responded with poise under pressure.

Darnold passed for 270 yards and two touchdowns, overcoming two costly interceptions earlier in the game. His resilience steadied Seattle during its late surge.

In overtime, Darnold engineered a nine-play, 65-yard drive capped by a touchdown pass to Jaxon Smith-Njigba. He followed it with a decisive two-point conversion to Eric Saubert for the win.

Smith-Njigba Sparks the Rally

After being shut out in the first half, Jaxon Smith-Njigba exploded when it mattered most. He finished with eight receptions for 96 yards and a touchdown.

His chemistry with Darnold proved vital during Seattle’s comeback and overtime response.

Rams Seemingly Take Control

The Rams dominated much of the night behind Matthew Stafford and Puka Nacua. Stafford threw for 457 yards and three touchdowns, while Nacua posted 12 catches for 225 yards and two scores.

A one-yard touchdown pass from Stafford to Nacua gave Los Angeles a 30–14 lead with 13:34 remaining.

Seattle appeared on the brink again after Darnold threw an interception at the Rams’ one-yard line.

Special Teams Ignite the Comeback

Momentum shifted when Rashid Shaheed returned a punt 58 yards for a touchdown. A successful two-point conversion cut the deficit to 30–22.

Seattle’s defense then forced another three-and-out, opening the door for more magic.

Darnold hit AJ Barner for a 26-yard touchdown on a perfectly designed play.

A Rare and Crucial Ruling

Seattle attempted another two-point conversion. The pass was ruled backward after review. Zach Charbonnet recovered it in the end zone.

The score stood. The game was tied 30–30 with 6:23 remaining.

Missed Chance Sends Game to Overtime

The Rams had one last chance in regulation. Kicker Harrison Mevis missed a 48-yard field goal with just over two minutes left.

Overtime followed.

Stafford again found Nacua, this time for a 41-yard touchdown, briefly restoring Los Angeles’ advantage.

Seahawks Finish the Job

Seattle refused to fold. Darnold led a calm, confident final drive that included a critical sideline catch.

Smith-Njigba caught the tying touchdown. Saubert secured the winning conversion.

The stadium erupted.

Playoff Picture Transformed

With the win, the Seahawks improve to 12–3, moving atop the NFC West. They now control their path to home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs.

The Rams fall to 11–4, stinging from a loss that reshapes the division race.

Seattle’s comeback may be remembered as the night their postseason destiny truly came alive.
