Winnipeg Jets defenseman Haydn Fleury was taken off the ice on a stretcher during Tuesday’s game against the Vegas Golden Knights at Canada Life Centre. The 4-3 overtime defeat was overshadowed by the injury, which occurred early in the first period.

Fleury collided with the end boards at 13:16 while trying to clear the puck from his defensive zone. The impact followed a hit by Golden Knights forward Keegan Kolesar. Fleury’s head and upper body absorbed the brunt of the collision, forcing medical staff to rush to his aid.

No penalty was called on Kolesar for the play.

Scary Moment on the Ice

“It’s unfortunate,” Jets coach Scott Arniel said. “I think the hit was far enough away, but Fleury lost his balance crossing over and went in hard. It’s always scary to see that happen.”

Arniel confirmed that Fleury would remain in the hospital overnight for observation and further tests.

Details of Hyden Fleury’s Injuries

Fleury suffered a broken nose in the collision, along with additional injuries to his head, neck, and back. “There’s a little bit of everything,” Arniel explained. “He slammed his back, hit his head, and obviously injured his nose.”

The team is taking no chances with his condition, emphasizing thorough testing and monitoring.

A Challenging Season for Fleury

This season has been tough for the 25-year-old defenseman. In 17 games, Fleury has yet to register a point for Winnipeg, who currently hold a 15-21-5 record.

Jets Face Tough Night Against Golden Knights

Despite Fleury’s injury, the Jets fought hard and took the game to overtime. The Golden Knights eventually secured a 4-3 victory, leaving Winnipeg with another loss in a challenging Western Conference schedule.

Coach Arniel stressed that the team’s focus will now shift to both Fleury’s recovery and upcoming matchups. “We’ll support him fully and focus on bouncing back in the next game,” Arniel said.

Looking Ahead

Fleury’s health remains the priority as the Jets regroup. Fans and teammates alike hope for a speedy recovery for the young defenseman. The team will adjust its defensive strategy while he undergoes treatment, ensuring stability on the blue line in the coming weeks.
