Amal Clooney drew wide attention at the Golden Globes, but her after-party appearance sparked even more conversation. The 47-year-old human rights barrister stepped out with her husband, George Clooney, at a Golden Globes afterparty held at Spago in Beverly Hills, where her outfit offered a fresh take on a fashion classic.
Amal wore a striking green mini dress by Versace, inspired by Elizabeth Hurley’s famous safety-pin gown from the 1990s. Instead of using pins to fasten the sides, the dress linked a cropped top to a short skirt with metallic pins. Shimmering green chainmail fabric caught the light as she moved through the room.
Details that elevated the look
Amal paired the bold dress with Gianvito Rossi “Plexi” pumps featuring a gold toe, a favourite she has worn at several major events. She completed the look with a gold clutch and statement earrings.
Her hair fell in soft waves over her shoulders, styled by Dimitris Giannetos. Subtle makeup kept the focus on the outfit, with a nude lip and lightly shimmering eyes adding polish without distraction.

At the event, Amal posed for photos alongside Ted Sarandos, Nicole Avant, and her husband, appearing relaxed and confident as the evening continued.
A powerful red carpet moment earlier
Earlier that night, Amal walked the red carpet with George Clooney in a custom ruby-red gown by Balmain. The dress followed an hourglass shape and featured soft ruching across the bodice and skirt. Matching red heels and a clutch completed the look.
The gown drew inspiration from a 1957 haute couture design by Pierre Balmain. Balmain’s official X account described the look in a post dated January 12:
"Inspired by Greek mythology, Pierre Balmain named the design after Erato, one of the nine Muses who presided over lyric poetry."
"The red silk chiffon gown features soft draping and a crossed construction that opens into an elegant open back, finished with a delicate tie detail."

Stylist Angela Kyte shared her thoughts on both outfits.
"Her red carpet gown, inspired by a 1957 design, felt quietly monumental, not nostalgic, but timeless, proving that true elegance doesn’t chase trends, it reframes them."
She added:
"Her later shift into green for the after-party was equally strategic. Green has become the unofficial language of modern glamour after hours; fresher, more unexpected than black, and less overtly seductive than red."
First public appearance of the year
The Golden Globes marked Amal’s first public outing of 2026. She spent the holiday season privately with George and their eight-year-old twins, Ella and Alexander.
Before that, the couple appeared at the Malacañang Palace in the Philippines ahead of a Social Good Summit. For that event, Amal chose a classic black pencil dress with a matching jacket, showing her range from understated elegance to high-fashion drama.
