Air Canada has extended the suspension of its flights to Dubai and Tel Aviv as tensions continue in the Middle East. The airline confirmed that flights between Canada and Dubai will remain suspended until March 28, while service to Tel Aviv will not resume until May 2.

The announcement follows a series of earlier suspensions that began after conflict erupted in the region on Feb. 28. The airline initially paused flights to Dubai until March 3 and Tel Aviv until March 8. Later, Air Canada pushed the suspension for both routes to March 22. The latest update now extends those timelines further.

Safety Concerns Behind the Decision

Air Canada said the continuing military situation in the Middle East led to the decision to extend the suspension. The airline emphasized that passenger safety remains its top priority.

“Due to the military situation in the Middle East, all flights to and from Dubai (DXB) and Tel Aviv (TLV) remain suspended. If you are in either of these regions, please do not head to the airport. Your safety is our top priority,” the airline said in an update.

Air Canada continues to monitor developments in the region and will reassess the situation before deciding when flights can safely resume.

Options for Travellers

Passengers whose flights fall within the affected period may need to adjust their travel plans. The airline has outlined several options for travellers who wish to change their itineraries.

Customers who purchased tickets by Feb. 28, 2026, for travel to, from, or through certain Middle Eastern airports may change their flights without paying change fees.

These airports include:

  • Abu Dhabi
  • Amman
  • Beirut
  • Dammam
  • Dubai
  • Erbil
  • Tel Aviv

Travellers who qualify for the policy can rebook their flights to a new travel date before March 31, 2026, depending on seat availability in the cabin originally purchased.

If passengers choose to travel after that date, the airline may apply any fare difference to the new booking.

Rebooking and Assistance

Passengers scheduled to travel during the affected period can access their booking online to review available options. The airline encourages travellers to check its website for updated travel policies and rebooking instructions.

Customers who booked their trips through Air Canada Vacations should contact that service directly for assistance with itinerary changes.

Air Canada stated that it continues to support affected travellers while monitoring conditions in the region closely.

Monitoring the Situation

The airline has not yet confirmed when regular service to Dubai and Tel Aviv will fully resume. Officials say they will evaluate the situation based on safety conditions and operational factors.

Airlines around the world have faced disruptions due to the ongoing conflict, leading to multiple flight cancellations and route adjustments across the Middle East.

For now, Air Canada passengers planning travel through the region are encouraged to stay informed and review their travel plans carefully.
