The Italian sports judiciary has reached a decision regarding the allegations of racism leveled against Inter defender Francesco Acerbi by Napoli's Juan Jesus during their match on March 17. Following a thorough review of testimonies, referee reports, and available footage, the judge determined that there was insufficient evidence to sanction Acerbi.

The incident came to light when Juan Jesus was seen conversing with referee Federico La Penna, gesturing towards a "Keep Racism Out" badge on his shirt, implying that Acerbi had racially insulted him. However, Juan Jesus later downplayed the incident, stating that apologies were exchanged, and he wished to move forward. Acerbi, on the other hand, denied the accusations, emphasizing his commitment against racism and his long history in the sport.

Despite Acerbi's denial, Juan Jesus took to social media to assert his version of events, citing lip-reading of Acerbi's alleged racial slur and expressing disappointment in Acerbi's contradictory statements.

The case was subsequently brought before the Italian Football Federation, where both Acerbi and Juan Jesus reiterated their accounts. However, without concrete evidence to support the allegations, the sports judge ruled in favor of Acerbi, leading to his reinstatement in the team lineup.

The decision clears the way for Acerbi's return to action, with expectations that he may feature in Inter's upcoming match against Empoli at San Siro next Monday. The verdict underscores the challenge of addressing allegations of racism in sports without definitive proof, emphasizing the importance of evidence in such matters.
