In Calgary, the Flames wrapped up their season on a high note with a decisive 5-1 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Thursday evening, marked by several standout performances and personal milestones.

Blake Coleman notched his 30th goal of the season, while MacKenzie Weegar secured his 20th, adding to the Flames' impressive offensive display. Joining them on the scoresheet were Adam Klapka, who celebrated his inaugural NHL goal, Oliver Kylington, and Kevin Rooney, contributing to Calgary's well-rounded performance.

Despite finishing 25th overall and missing out on the postseason for the second consecutive year, the Flames can take pride in individual achievements. Dustin Wolf, the rookie goaltender, concluded his season on a high note with a four-game winning streak, evening his record at 7-7-1, although he narrowly missed securing his first NHL shutout.

San Jose, on the other hand, endured a challenging night, with Fabian Zetterlund's lone goal unable to salvage a victory. Their starting goaltender, Devin Cooley, faced another tough outing, conceding five goals on 23 shots before being replaced by Georgi Romanov. Cooley's struggles continued from his previous game, where he was pulled after allowing eight goals against the Edmonton Oilers.

Calgary seized control early in the game, establishing a 2-0 lead in the first period with goals from Klapka and Coleman. Coleman's milestone goal, his first time reaching the 30-goal mark in his career, underscored his impact on the team despite missing several games due to injury.

The Flames extended their lead in the second period, capitalizing on three consecutive goals within a span of just over three minutes. Kylington, Rooney, and Weegar all found the back of the net, showcasing Calgary's offensive depth and versatility.

Weegar's impressive season highlights his evolution as a defenseman, surpassing his previous career-high goal tally. His breakout performance, coupled with contributions from teammates, reflects the Flames' determination to finish the season on a positive note.

While some milestones, like Nazem Kadri's quest for his 30th goal, remained elusive, the Flames can take satisfaction in their collective achievements and look ahead to building on this momentum in the seasons to come.
