In Toronto, Gradey Dick has found himself with a demanding schedule, marking his presence both on the court for the Toronto Raptors in the NBA and for the Raptors 905 in the G-League.

The 20-year-old rookie forward, a 13th overall pick from Kansas in the previous summer's draft, has been experiencing a significant transition from the NCAA to the NBA, citing the extensive travel as the most challenging aspect of this shift.

Dick expressed his thoughts on the demanding schedule, stating, "I just continue to say the schedule. You're traveling non-stop. Perhaps occasionally enjoying a series of home games, but aside from that, it appears that nights are spent in various cities. This presents a significant challenge, yet it also adds an element of enjoyment to the experience.

His recent week reflects the hectic nature of his commitments. Dick showcased his talent with 21 points during the Raptors 905's victory against the Maine Celtics in a G-League matinee at Scotiabank Arena. However, due to feeling unwell after the G-League game, he was unable to join the NBA team for their game against the New York Knicks that evening.

Following a weekend break, Dick resumed training with the Raptors on Monday. Subsequently, he rejoined the Raptors 905 on Tuesday for a match against the Westchester Knicks in New York on Wednesday morning. Although there was a possibility of his return to Toronto for the evening game against the Miami Heat at Scotiabank Arena, it is more probable that he will continue with the 905 team to play against the Long Island Nets on Thursday night before reuniting with the Raptors in Charlotte on Friday.

Adjusting to the rhythm of switching between the two tiers of professional basketball almost daily, Dick acknowledged the initial challenge but highlighted the normalization of the routine with time. He emphasized his commitment to exerting maximum effort during practice, aiming to replicate this intensity during the games, irrespective of the level of play.

Dick's performance statistics highlight his versatility. In the NBA, he averages 3.9 points, 1.5 rebounds, and one assist in 14.7 minutes, while in the G-League, he averages 15 points, 2.7 rebounds, and an assist, playing for an average of 36.9 minutes per game. Despite the varying playing times, team management has emphasized consistency in his style of play across both teams.

Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic emphasized the organization's efforts to maintain a consistent coaching environment across the two teams. This approach aims to facilitate the seamless transition for players like Dick, allowing them to adapt and improve steadily, irrespective of the league they are competing in.

The coaching staff acknowledges Dick's progress, noting his continuous improvement and growing confidence as he finds his rhythm within this unique dual-league arrangement.
