Canadians enjoy free Slurpees today while celebrating 7/11 Day nationwide. CTV

If you're looking for a fun way to beat the heat, head to 7-Eleven today. The convenience store chain is celebrating its 98th birthday by giving out free small Slurpees for one day only.

The offer is available at participating stores in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia.

One Free Drink Per Person

You can grab one free small Slurpee between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. No purchase is needed.

Customers don’t need to use points or rewards for this treat. Although the 7-Eleven app helps collect points, you don’t need it to claim this free Slurpee. Just walk in and ask for one at a participating location.

A Frozen Favorite for Summer

Slurpees have become a summer favorite across Canada. They are poured at exactly -2.2 degrees Celsius, making them the perfect drink to cool down with.

A company spokesperson shared that Winnipeg drinks more Slurpees than any other city worldwide.

In fact, it has earned the nickname Slurpee Capital of the World.

Winnipeg Holds the Crown

Marc Goodman, Vice President of 7-Eleven Canada, said the title is based on sales per person.

“This is probably at least 15 to 20 years running,” he said. “We’re hoping other cities step up and challenge Winnipeg for the top spot.”

The love for Slurpees in Winnipeg has been strong for decades, and no other city has come close to knocking it off the top of the chart.

Popular Food Combos by Province

According to the company, many customers pair their Slurpee with a snack. The most popular choices vary depending on where you are:

  • In Alberta, B.C., and Manitoba, people often pick a Monterey Chicken Taquito.
  • In Ontario, the favorite combo is a Beef Taco & Cheese Taquito.
  • In Saskatchewan, many prefer Potato Wedges or Chicken Wings.

Each province seems to have its own Slurpee tradition, adding a local flavor to this cool celebration.

A Summer Treat for All Ages

Whether you're young or just young at heart, today is a good day to treat yourself. This yearly tradition draws a big crowd, so expect to see fellow Slurpee lovers lined up.

Don’t wait too late—the free drinks end at 11 p.m.
