Valentine’s Day dinners often bring thoughts of fine dining, candlelight, and reservations booked weeks in advance. This year, however, one familiar fast-food name plans to enter the celebration in an unexpected way. McDonald's announced a limited Valentine’s Day giveaway that pairs its well-known chicken nuggets with a luxury item rarely linked to drive-thru meals.

The company revealed it will offer free caviar kits online, designed to turn an everyday favourite into a romantic, at-home dining experience. The idea targets couples looking for something playful and different, as well as individuals who want to mark the holiday with a personal treat.

A Collaboration Inspired by Social Media

The special kits come through a partnership with Paramount Caviar, a well-known caviar supplier. The concept draws inspiration from a growing food trend seen online, where diners combine crispy fried foods with caviar for a mix of comfort and luxury.

According to the company, fans had already been pairing chicken nuggets with caviar on their own, long before the brand made it official. In a statement, McDonald’s said, “McNugget Caviar was created because of our customers. They've been pairing Chicken McNuggets with caviar long before we made it official. We know our fans want to enjoy elevated experiences without the price tag, so we want to treat you to something special — completely on us. We're pairing savory caviar with our signature McNuggets for a Valentine's Day celebration unlike any other.”

What’s Inside the Free Kit

Each “McCaviar” kit comes at no cost and includes everything needed for a complete meal at home. Inside the package, customers will find a one-ounce tin of Baerii sturgeon caviar, a serving of crème fraîche, and a mother-of-pearl spoon designed specifically for caviar.

The kit also includes a $25 gift card to purchase fresh chicken nuggets, allowing customers to prepare the pairing just before serving. While the company did not place a retail value on the kit, a single ounce of this type of caviar often sells for close to $100.

Limited Supply, Online Only

There is a catch. McDonald’s has not disclosed how many kits it plans to give away. The company confirmed that only a limited number will be available, and each customer can claim just one.

The kits will be released online at 11 a.m. Eastern time on February 10. Customers cannot buy them in restaurants, and visiting a drive-thru will not help secure one. The offer is open nationwide, giving Canadians and Americans alike an equal chance to take part.

A New Take on Valentine’s Day

By blending fast food with fine dining, McDonald’s aims to create a moment that feels both playful and indulgent. Whether shared with a partner or enjoyed alone, the limited-time giveaway adds a surprising option to Valentine’s Day plans this year.
