Investigators in Peel Region have successfully apprehended 18 individuals linked to a series of home invasions, armed robberies, and carjackings, recovering over $1.2 million in stolen vehicles. This significant development was unveiled during a press conference in Brampton, where Police Chief Nishan Duraiappah, Detective Allan Dean, and Deputy Chief Nick Milinovich provided insights into the extensive investigation dubbed Project Warlock.
The operation involved numerous search warrants, culminating in 18 arrests and over 100 charges. The crimes took place in Brampton, Mississauga, and other parts of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Chief Duraiappah highlighted the severe impact on the victims, stating, "The home invasions involved individuals waking up to firearms presented to them in their beds, with children at home being traumatized. It has forever changed the lives of some of these families and their children the way they live on a day-to-day basis."

Project Warlock also led to the recovery of over $55,000 worth of stolen property and the seizure of four prohibited firearms. Det. Dean, the lead investigator, detailed the nature of the crimes, noting that between November 2023 and January 2024, eight violent robberies occurred in Brampton, including home invasions, carjackings, and commercial robberies. The suspects targeted jewelry, clothing, and luxury vehicles.

"During one home invasion, a victim sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound to his lower body," said Det. Dean. "Our investigations identified an organized criminal network based in Brampton and Mississauga as being responsible for these robberies."

The individuals charged as part of Project Warlock include:

  • Nanayaw Kwarten, 21, Mississauga
  • Mark Obohat, 19, Brampton
  • A 14-year-old from Mississauga
  • Jessiah Farrell, 21, Brampton
  • Kashaun Grenier, 21, Brampton
  • Tyrese Williams, 24, Brampton
  • Patrick Kubu, 19, Brampton
  • Isiah Grenier, 19, Brampton
  • Mohammed Muheeb, 23, London, Ont.
  • Ayub Abdi, 22, Brampton
  • MD Abdul Kibria, 22, Milton
  • Oneil Antubam, 23, Mississauga
  • A 17-year-old from Cambridge
  • Breanna Nash, 26, Brampton
  • Teshawn Kerr-Cover, 24, Brampton
  • Antoine Betty, 27, Brampton
  • Inderpal Dhillon, 26, Brampton
  • A 17-year-old from Brampton

The names of the three teenagers were not disclosed due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).

Det. Dean further revealed that nine additional robberies in Peel Region were linked to the same network, including two involving firearms and three knife-point robberies. The investigation also connected the network to 87 carjackings in 2024, with Project Warlock launched in 2023. These included five carjackings across the GTA, involving multiple luxury cars. Twelve vehicles, valued at around $1.2 million, were recovered.

"Violence like this terrifies and shatters the sense of safety of residents and their families," stated Chief Duraiappah.

Recently, Peel Regional Police announced their largest-ever illegal gun seizure, with 10 people facing charges and 71 firearms recovered.

"On behalf of Peel Regional Police, we will do everything in our power to continue to arrest and stop these individuals, seize firearms from them, and ensure these criminals do not victimize our community anymore," added Duraiappah.
