Taylor Swift’s groundbreaking Eras Tour made a remarkable return to London on Thursday night, with Ed Sheeran joining her for a special performance at Wembley Stadium.
Sheeran took the stage during the acoustic segment, performing their hits “Everything Has Changed” and “Endgame,” followed by a lively rendition of his own hit “Thinking Out Loud.” The crowd's excitement peaked when Swift hinted at Sheeran's appearance, causing cheers and applause from fans who had been singing and dancing throughout the show.
Sheeran’s surprise appearance added a memorable touch to an already impressive show, showcasing Swift’s musical journey.
Recent weeks have been challenging for Swift and her tour. The singer is still coping with the aftermath of a tragic incident in Southport, England, where three young fans were killed by an attacker at their Swift-themed dance class. Additionally, there was concern following a thwarted attack plan in Austria, where police arrested three extremists linked to Islamic State. The Vienna shows were canceled due to these security issues.
Despite these setbacks, the Eras Tour resumed at Wembley, where Swift greeted the audience with a warm “Oh hi London.” She admitted to feeling overwhelmed at first, describing the crowd's reception as a “love system overload.”
Swift expressed her gratitude to the 92,000 fans who attended, noting the enhanced security measures in place. With four more dates at Wembley, Swift is set to break records for solo residencies at the venue and wrap up the European leg of the tour before heading to Toronto in November.
The Eras Tour has become the highest-grossing tour ever, with ticket sales exceeding $1 billion last year, according to Pollstar. The tour is projected to surpass $2 billion before concluding in Indianapolis later this year.
