Actor Tony Todd, renowned for his unforgettable performance as the haunting character in Candyman and for his many roles across film and television, has passed away at the age of 69. His manager, Jeffrey Goldberg, confirmed that Todd died peacefully at his Los Angeles home on Wednesday.

"Having Tony as both a friend and client for over three decades was a true privilege, and I'll miss him deeply," Goldberg shared. Known for his imposing presence and powerful artistry, Todd has left a lasting legacy not only in film and theater but also in the lives of those fortunate enough to know him.

In a tribute, Goldberg’s management company said, "Tony Todd was a giant in cinema and a beloved soul whose influence will endure."

Todd's career included appearances in celebrated films such as Platoon (1986), directed by Oliver Stone. Horror fans will also remember him for his role in Final Destination (2000) and its sequel in 2003. Over the weekend, New Line Cinema honored Todd’s memory, calling him “a legend” and “a cherished friend” in a social media post.

Todd’s portrayal of Candyman in 1992 left a deep impression on audiences. In this horror classic, he played a terrifying figure with a hook hand, rooted in the urban legend of a ghostly presence that haunts Chicago's Cabrini-Green housing projects. The film was remade in 2021, delving into themes of racism and police violence.

Beyond film, Todd appeared in TV shows such as Night Court, Matlock, and Law & Order. Off the screen, he was known for his kindness, mentorship, and advocacy for better representation in the industry.

"Tony was a warm-hearted mentor, a friend, and an inspiring figure who always gave his time to others," his management company reflected. "His deep honesty and generosity left an impact on everyone he met, from fans and friends to aspiring actors he supported tirelessly."
