Netflix has released a teaser and fresh images for its upcoming French-language animated series Asterix & Obelix: The Big Fight. Based on the beloved Asterix & Obelix graphic novels by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo, the series is set to premiere in the spring of 2025.
The project is spearheaded by Alain Chabat, known for directing the 2002 hit live-action film Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra, which became a blockbuster, grossing over $128 million worldwide. Chabat, alongside co-director Fabrice Joubert, brings the iconic Gaulish heroes back to life in this animated adaptation, produced by Alain Goldman and brought to screens by TAT Productions.

Set against the backdrop of Roman-occupied Gaul, the series follows Asterix, Obelix, and their resilient village as they face yet another challenge. According to the official synopsis, “Rome is desperate to conquer the last independent village in Gaul and the home of Asterix and Obelix. The secret to the Gauls’ battle superiority lies in a magic potion, but when their potion master loses his memory, the villagers are left vulnerable against Rome's relentless forces.”
The release is part of Netflix’s ongoing push to bolster its French content library, following successes like Lupin starring Omar Sy and the fan-favorite series Call My Agent!. In collaboration with French publisher Les Editions Albert René, the streaming giant is bringing the cherished adventures of Asterix and Obelix to a new generation of audiences.

Fans of the comic series and new viewers alike can look forward to a nostalgic yet fresh take on the timeless tale of two brave Gauls who refuse to bow to Roman rule.
