The legendary rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd, inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, is heading to Canada for a special tour. The 10-stop tour includes three performances in the Maritimes, with shows in Moncton, Halifax, and St. John’s.

The Canadian leg of the tour kicks off on September 22 at the Avenir Centre in Moncton, followed by a performance at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax on September 23. The final stop in the region will be in St. John’s at the Mary Brown’s Centre on September 25. Fans of the iconic Southern rock band will have the chance to see them perform some of their biggest hits, including "Free Bird" and "Sweet Home Alabama."

Originally formed in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1964, Lynyrd Skynyrd quickly became known for their electrifying sound and unforgettable anthems. Though many of the original members have passed on or retired from touring, including iconic frontman Ronnie Van Zant, the spirit of the band lives on. The current lead vocalist is Ronnie’s younger brother, Johnny Van Zant, who has been with the group for many years.

While the band’s lineup has changed over time, it still includes a talented mix of musicians. Alongside Johnny Van Zant, the band features Rickey Medlocke, Damon Johnson, Mark “Sparky” Matejka, Michael Cartellone, Keith Christopher, Peter Keys, Carol Chase, and Stacy Michelle. These musicians continue to bring the band's classic hits to life, offering fans an unforgettable rock experience.

Despite the changes in lineup over the years, Lynyrd Skynyrd has remained one of the most enduring and beloved bands in rock history. Their music, especially the classic tracks "Free Bird" and "Sweet Home Alabama," remains a staple of classic rock radio and continues to inspire new generations of fans.

The band's long-standing legacy, paired with the powerful performances of the current lineup, makes their concerts an exciting event for both long-time fans and newcomers alike. Tickets for the upcoming shows in the Maritimes will go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m. Fans are encouraged to grab their tickets early, as Lynyrd Skynyrd’s shows have been known to sell out quickly.

As one of the most iconic rock bands in history, Lynyrd Skynyrd’s influence on music is undeniable. With their upcoming Canadian tour, they continue to celebrate their rich history and share their music with fans around the world.
