The 2025 Academy Awards witnessed a dazzling musical tribute to the iconic James Bond franchise. Doja Cat, Lisa, and Raye joined forces to celebrate 60 years of Bond’s cinematic legacy. The Star-Studded 007 Medley performance came shortly after the surprising announcement that Amazon MGM would take creative control of the James Bond series.
A Grand Opening with Lisa
The tribute kicked off with actress Margaret Qualley dancing to the legendary Bond theme. The spotlight then shifted to Lisa, who made a breathtaking entrance from the ceiling. She delivered a mesmerizing performance of Wings’ classic Live and Let Die, the theme song from the 1973 Bond film. As dancers in red dresses and tuxedos moved elegantly around her, Lisa raised her arms skyward, setting the stage for the next act.
Doja Cat’s Dazzling Rendition
The energy escalated as Doja Cat took over with a shimmering performance of Diamonds Are Forever. Originally sung by Shirley Bassey for the 1971 Bond film, the song was given a fresh, glamorous twist by the rap sensation.
Raye’s Powerful Finale
Bringing the tribute to a dramatic close, Raye delivered an emotional rendition of Skyfall. Dressed in a striking black-and-white gown, she was accompanied by a full orchestra, capturing the grandeur and intensity of Adele’s Oscar-winning Bond theme.
A Special Introduction by Halle Berry
Halle Berry, known for her role as Jinx in Die Another Day (2002), introduced the performance with a heartfelt tribute. She reflected on the enduring appeal of Bond, stating, “That signature mix of danger, style, and intrigue? Well, that’s timeless.” Her words set the perfect tone for the evening’s tribute.
