Expect heavy rain midweek, with amounts between 30 and 50 mm. CTV
Environment Canada has issued a warning about heavy rain expected this week. Forecasters say rainfall could reach 30 to 50 millimeters, with some areas seeing even more if thunderstorms develop.
Rain is set to start Wednesday morning in extreme southwestern Ontario before moving toward the Golden Horseshoe by the afternoon. Thunderstorms could bring even heavier rain in certain areas, especially in southwestern Ontario.
The rain is expected to continue through the evening and gradually stop from west to east overnight into early Thursday morning.
Due to the expected downpour, the Essex Region Conservation Authority has placed a flood watch in effect. This will last from Wednesday until noon on Thursday. Low-lying areas may experience flooding as water levels rise.
Forecasters warn that some locations could receive rainfall warnings as the storm approaches. People are advised to stay alert and take precautions, especially in flood-prone areas.
