The new trailer for *I Know What You Did Last Summer* sequel brings the horror series back with a fresh and scary twist. Yahoo!

The first trailer for I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel has a thrilling twist. Sony released the trailer online on Tuesday, after showcasing the footage at CinemaCon last month. The movie is set to hit theaters on July 18. Directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, the sequel brings the horror franchise back to life. This follows the original film from 1997.

The new movie features a fresh cast, including Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, Jonah Hauer-King, and Chase Sui Wonders. In addition, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. return to reprise their iconic roles from the first movie and its follow-up from 1998.

In this sequel, the story follows a group of five friends who face deadly consequences after making a pact to stay quiet about a tragic car accident. Their silence leads them to cross paths with two survivors of the infamous Southport Massacre that took place in 1997. As the friends struggle with their past, things take a darker turn.

Freddie Prinze Jr. makes a chilling statement in the trailer, saying, “This isn’t the first time there’s been violence like this in Southport.” Later in the trailer, Jennifer Love Hewitt delivers a haunting line, “I just have one question, what did you do last summer?” These moments set the tone for the rest of the movie, hinting at a twisted mystery that unfolds.

Jennifer Kaytin Robinson directs the project from a screenplay she co-wrote with Sam Lansky. The original script was written by Leah McKendrick. Neal Moritz, who produced the original I Know What You Did Last Summer, returns as a producer for this new installment.

The first I Know What You Did Last Summer movie was released on October 17, 1997. The film followed a group of friends, played by Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Ryan Phillippe, who were stalked by a mysterious killer with a hook after they tried to cover up hitting him with their car. The script was written by Kevin Williamson, who is famous for writing Scream, and it was based on Lois Duncan's 1973 novel of the same name.

Brandy, who co-starred in the first two films, recently shared that she hasn't heard from the new movie's team but would love to be a part of it. "I need them to give me a call because I survived in that movie!” she said. “I came out in the end, bloodied up, ready to go."

The new movie is shaping up to be an exciting continuation of the horror franchise. Fans of the original film are eagerly awaiting the return of familiar faces and the promise of a new, thrilling story.
