Rob Holland, one of the world’s top aerobatic pilots, died in a plane crash on Thursday. The crash happened at Langley Air Force Base just before noon.

Holland was preparing to perform at an upcoming airshow called Air Power Over Hampton Roads. He was flying his custom MXS aerobatic plane when the crash happened. He was the only person in the aircraft.

The accident took place around 11:50 a.m. as he was trying to land. The exact reason for the crash is not yet known. Authorities are now investigating. The FAA, NTSB, and Department of Defense are looking into what went wrong.

His team confirmed the crash and posted a message on his official page. They called Rob one of the most respected pilots in aerobatics.

“Even with an absolutely impressive list of accomplishments, both in classical competition aerobatics and within the air show world, Rob was the most humble person with a singular goal to simply be better than he was yesterday,” the post said.

Rob Holland’s plane was specially made just for him. It was a single-seat aircraft made of carbon fiber. It could take up to 16Gs and spin at 500 degrees per second.

He had over 20 years of experience as a full-time airshow performer. His love for flying showed in every move he made in the sky.

Aviation groups and fans around the world are mourning his death. The E3Aviation Association posted a tribute to him.

They wrote, “The world lost an extraordinary pilot, an incredible person, and a true hero who inspired countless lives.”

Rob Holland flew more than 15,000 hours during his career. He piloted over 180 types of aircraft. He had a passion for flight and always looked for ways to improve his skills.

He didn’t just perform at airshows. He also competed in aerobatic championships around the world.

According to his website, he won 37 medals in international events. He was also a 13-time U.S. National Aerobatic Champion.

His loss has left a big hole in the world of aviation. People admired him not only for his flying but also for his kindness and humility.

Rob Holland inspired many young pilots. He proved that with passion and hard work, dreams could take flight.

Fans, friends, and fellow pilots are sharing their memories of Rob. Many say they will never forget the way he made flying look magical.

Authorities will share more updates about the crash after their investigation. For now, many are just remembering a pilot who brought joy to so many through the skies.
