Ellen Pompeo, the face of Grey's Anatomy for nearly two decades, now has a permanent mark in Hollywood. On April 29, the celebrated actress received the 2,809th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. This honour solidifies her place in entertainment history.
Family Moments Steal the Spotlight at the Hollywood Walk of Fame
The 55-year-old actress was joined by her husband Chris Ivery and two of their three children. Daughters Stella, 15, and Eli, 8, stood proudly beside their mom during the ceremony. With wide smiles, the family posed for cameras, radiating pride and love.
Pompeo couldn’t resist mentioning her 10-year-old daughter Sienna, who was not present. “Everybody say Sienna because she’s not here!” she joked as photographers snapped away.

A Heartfelt Speech and a Grateful Tribute
During her emotional speech, Pompeo thanked her children with affection. “This doesn’t happen overnight, and it doesn’t happen easily. It takes a village. I love you Stella. I love you Eli.”
She also expressed deep gratitude to Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes. “Shonda allowed me to have a career, and get paid and be a mother,” she said. Pompeo acknowledged that such a balance isn’t common in Hollywood.
Rhimes also attended the ceremony and spoke at the event, celebrating Pompeo’s contribution to television and her ability to juggle work and motherhood with grace.
Family Opinions on Grey’s Anatomy
Earlier this month, Pompeo appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show, where she shared how her family feels about her iconic role. Surprisingly, her husband of 18 years has never watched the show.
Her daughter Stella, however, used to be a fan — until one particular episode changed that. Stella stopped watching after the emotional death of character George O'Malley, known as “007.” Pompeo said, “I think she had it... She saw George O'Malley die and said, ‘I’m done.’”
Younger Fans, But Age Limits at Home
The actress also spoke to Jimmy Kimmel in March about the younger generation discovering Grey’s Anatomy. As the show marks 20 years, new fans — including kids — are tuning in.
Pompeo’s 15-year-old has seen it, but her 10-year-old wants to watch too. She’s holding off. “She’s not ready,” said Pompeo, laughing about the awkwardness of classmates seeing her in revealing scenes. “I don’t want my daughter to see me in my underwear on TV just yet.”
Star on the Sidewalk, Legacy in the Limelight
Ellen Pompeo’s star now rests proudly on Hollywood Boulevard, near Te’Kila Mexican restaurant. It’s more than a tribute — it’s a reminder of her lasting impact on television.
With family by her side and fans across generations, Pompeo’s star is not just on the sidewalk — it’s firmly set in the hearts of many.
