Taylor Swift appears in the music video for "Look What You Made Me Do." People
Taylor Swift fans got an unexpected treat recently. The latest episode of The Handmaid’s Tale featured a longer version of Swift’s rerecorded hit, “Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor’s Version).” This version first appeared in a teaser last year but now plays during a key scene in episode nine. The scene shows the handmaids preparing for a big uprising, led by the main character, June Osborne.
Elisabeth Moss shares her excitement
Elisabeth Moss, the star and executive producer of the show, said she has wanted to include a Taylor Swift song for a long time. “I’m so glad we waited because there could not be a more perfect song for a more perfect moment,” Moss said. She also shared how much Taylor Swift inspires her. “As a Swiftie myself, and I think I can speak for [co-star] Yvonne [Strahovski] and our entire cast, it’s such an honor to use her music in the final episodes.”
A Swiftie connection
Moss is a big Taylor Swift fan. Last year, she went to Swift’s Eras Tour in Toronto with co-star Bradley Whitford. A picture showed them there with Mariska Hargitay, who also appeared on The Handmaid’s Tale.
Taylor’s music in other shows
Taylor’s rerecorded music has popped up in other places too. The song “Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor’s Version)” showed in a few shows and teasers before, like the Apple TV+ series about the New England Patriots and a teaser for Wilderness.
Swift is working on rerecording her 2017 album Reputation. She has already released new versions of some albums like 1989, Red, Speak Now, and Fearless.
Fans eagerly await Reputation (Taylor’s Version)
Fans, often called Swifties, have been waiting for Reputation (Taylor’s Version) for a while. They noticed hints Taylor gave during her Eras Tour and even in small details like a necklace she wore at a football game earlier this year. At that game, Swift supported her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, whose team made it to the Super Bowl.
The impact of Taylor’s music
Taylor Swift’s music often connects with big moments in pop culture. Now, her song adds power to the emotional and intense scenes in The Handmaid’s Tale. Fans of both the show and Taylor have enjoyed this unique mix of music and storytelling.
