Tropical Storm Barbara has formed near Mexico’s south-western coast. Weather experts say the storm may become a hurricane by Monday. Winds are currently reaching speeds of 45 mph (75 kph), with even stronger gusts in some areas.

Rainfall Could Cause Flooding and Mudslides
Rainfall between 2 to 4 inches (5 to 10 cm) is likely. In some places, the total may reach 6 inches (15 cm). This heavy rain could hit parts of Guerrero, Michoacan, Colima, and Jalisco. Officials warn this may cause flooding and dangerous mudslides.

Sea Conditions Remain Dangerous
Strong waves and rip currents are expected near Mexico’s south-west coast. These dangerous sea conditions may continue for a few more days. Experts say the rough waters could threaten swimmers and surfers.

No Warnings Yet, But Risk Still High
So far, no coastal warnings have been issued. However, the storm continues to grow stronger. People living near the coast should stay alert and follow local updates. Even if the storm doesn’t make landfall, it may still bring dangerous weather.

Storm Season May Be Worse Than Usual
Experts believe the 2025 storm season could be very active. Many powerful storms may develop this year. The US and neighboring countries are preparing for serious weather events. Storms like Barbara might be just the beginning.

Staff Shortages Raise Concerns
Some weather offices along the Gulf of Mexico have fewer staff. Budget cuts have caused these shortages. With more storms likely this year, this could affect the speed and accuracy of weather alerts. Some experts worry this may leave people with less time to prepare.

Mexico and US Watch Storm Closely
Both Mexican and US weather agencies are keeping a close eye on Barbara. Officials are ready to update the public if the storm changes direction or grows stronger. Emergency services remain on standby.

Storm Could Reach Hurricane Level Soon
If Barbara keeps strengthening, it may be classified as a hurricane by Monday. People in the region should stay informed and avoid the coast if possible. Weather changes quickly, and Barbara may become more dangerous overnight.
