On July 23, around Brock Street South and Davis Street, a police officer spotted a man riding a bicycle. The officer recognized him as someone wanted on several warrants and quickly stopped him.
Knife Found Hidden in Bicycle Seat
As the officer moved in to arrest the man, a knife was noticed. It was hidden under the bicycle seat. The officer questioned him, but the man couldn’t give a good reason for having the knife.
No Legal Excuse for Carrying Weapon
Police said the man failed to explain why he carried the open blade in that way. He also didn’t tell the officer about the knife before it was found.
Breach of Bail Conditions
At the time of the arrest, the man was already out on bail. His release conditions clearly stated he was not allowed to have any weapons. Still, he had the knife with him.
Man Now Faces New Charges
Police arrested the 37-year-old man from Sarnia and held him in custody. He now faces these three charges:
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Carrying a concealed weapon
- Failing to follow court-ordered bail conditions
Next Steps in Legal Process
The man will appear in court for a bail hearing. Police haven’t released his name. Authorities continue to remind people that breaking bail terms leads to serious trouble. Having a weapon without a valid reason is also a major offence.
