Travel at Edmonton International Airport came to a brief stop Tuesday night after a plane experienced an incident on the runway. For about 25 minutes, no flights took off or landed at the busy airport.

Airport confirms details

The airport shared an update on social media at 8:50 p.m. It stated that an aircraft was involved in an incident during landing. Officials confirmed no injuries.

“No flights are landing or taking off at YEG at this time. If you have a flight booked, please check flyeia.com or contact your airline for updates and rebooking,” the airport posted.

Runway reopens quickly

By 9:15 p.m., airport staff had cleared the plane and reopened the runway. The pause lasted less than half an hour. Passengers were told to contact their airlines for information about possible delays and rebookings.

Limited information released

The airport did not release further details about the aircraft or the cause of the incident. The quick reopening, however, suggested that damage was limited and that normal operations could continue without major disruption.

Passengers react to delays

Travellers waiting inside the terminal faced short delays and some rescheduling. Airport staff and airlines worked to get flights moving again. While some passengers expressed frustration over the pause, many praised the swift response and relief that nobody was hurt.
