James McAvoy, the Scottish actor known for Split and X-Men, was punched late Monday night at a downtown Toronto bar. The attack appeared unprovoked, sources say.

McAvoy was hit while a man was being escorted out of Charlotte's Room, a bar just blocks from the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) headquarters.

A source connected to McAvoy confirmed the incident to the media. The actor was reportedly unharmed and did not press charges. Toronto police have no record of a report.

No comments have been made by Charlotte's Room yet, and TIFF representatives also did not immediately provide a statement.

In Toronto for a Premiere
McAvoy was in Toronto to attend the world premiere of California Schemin', his directorial debut. This marks the first time he has directed a feature film.

A Storied Career
McAvoy has a long list of film credits. His notable performances include Atonement, The Last King of Scotland, and the adaptation of Irvine Welsh's Filth. He also starred in M. Night Shyamalan’s Split and Glass.

Many fans know him for playing Professor Charles Xavier in several X-Men films, cementing his place in blockbuster cinema.

Looking Ahead
Despite the incident, sources say McAvoy remains focused on TIFF and the launch of his new film. His fans continue to show support on social media, praising his calm response.

The brief encounter at Charlotte's Room has drawn attention, highlighting that even stars can face sudden, random acts of violence. For McAvoy, it appears to be a minor setback amid a busy festival schedule.
