The decomposed body discovered last week in singer D4vd’s impounded Tesla in Los Angeles has been identified as 15-year-old Celeste Rivas. Forensic investigators confirmed her identity, but the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet determined how she died.
“The LAPD does not have a crime classification from the coroner as to the mode or manner of death. Thus, we do not have any suspect information at this time,” the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Rivas had been reported missing from Lake Elsinore. Officials clarified that the LAPD leads the investigation and apologized for previously labeling the case a homicide.
Discovery of the Vehicle
Authorities found the remains on September 8 after police responded to Hollywood Tow following reports of a strong, foul odor coming from the Tesla. The vehicle had been impounded after someone reported it abandoned.
The medical examiner’s office described the teen’s clothing and appearance in detail. She wore a tube top, black leggings, a yellow metal chain bracelet, and stud earrings. She had wavy black hair and weighed about 71 pounds. Law enforcement sources noted that the remains were not intact and appeared to have been in the car for an extended period.
Response from the Singer
A spokesperson for D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, said the artist had been informed and is “fully cooperating with the authorities.”
D4vd, known for the hit “Romantic Homicide,” was on his Withered World Tour when news of the discovery emerged. His scheduled performance in Seattle on Wednesday was canceled following the incident.
