Bravo TV is set to debut a powerful new limited series titled Surviving Mormonism with Heather Gay, where The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star takes on her most personal journey yet — confronting the faith she once called home.
The three-part series premieres on Tuesday, November 11, and will stream in full on Peacock the following day. Each episode follows Gay as she revisits her Mormon roots, uncovering hidden stories, controversial practices, and the voices long silenced within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
According to the network, the series “fractures the church’s seemingly perfect veneer to reveal the truths behind closed doors.” Through deeply emotional interviews with survivors, former members, and past church leaders, Gay explores what she describes as “the darker corners of faith and control.”
Confronting a Past Left Behind
In the first episode, titled A Bad Mormon, Gay begins her search for understanding — retracing the four decades she spent inside the Mormon Church before leaving in 2019. The journey is both investigative and deeply personal, as she reflects on her decision to walk away from a belief system that shaped her identity.
The episode features former Mormon David Matheson, once known as a leading figure in conversion therapy. Now living openly as a gay man, Matheson speaks candidly about the harm caused by the teachings he once upheld. His story sets the tone for the emotional intensity that defines the series.
Stories That Challenge Silence
Episode two, The Highest Level of Heaven, sees Gay speaking with a former bishop before reconnecting with an old friend who shares allegations of abuse for the first time. The revelations leave Gay confronting her own guilt for not seeing the signs earlier. As she listens, she realizes that these accounts might only scratch the surface of what many have endured.
The final episode, Change Is Gonna Come, delivers the series’ most heartbreaking yet hopeful moments. Gay meets two sisters who claim they were repeatedly ignored by church authorities after reporting abuse. Their courage pushes her to take a stand — transforming reflection into action.
