In a daring feat that gripped the attention of Las Vegas residents and authorities alike, a man identifying as "The Official Pro-Life Spider-Man" embarked on a perilous climb up the towering Sphere venue, all in the name of a pregnant woman in need. The spectacle unfolded on Wednesday morning, with Maison Des Champs, a 24-year-old local rock climber, defying gravity as he scaled the 366-foot-tall structure near the bustling Strip.

Reports flooded into the Las Vegas police department shortly after 10 a.m., with concerned citizens witnessing the audacious ascent. Within hours, authorities confirmed Des Champs' detention, signalling an abrupt halt to his vertigo-inducing endeavour.

For Des Champs, this daring act was more than just a display of physical prowess; it was a statement of unwavering conviction. In a brief video captured on his Instagram account, he stood atop the Sphere, the wind a constant companion as he outlined his mission. With a GoPro camera documenting every precarious step, Des Champs explained that his stunt aimed to draw attention to his anti-abortion stance while rallying support for a homeless pregnant woman. His intention? To raise funds substantial enough to alter the course of her life, redirecting her from an impending abortion.

Yet, as the adrenaline-fueled spectacle unfolded against the backdrop of the iconic Las Vegas skyline, authorities were quick to denounce Des Champs' actions as nothing more than a brazen publicity stunt. Clark County Sheriff Kevin McMahill minced no words, categorizing the event as a reckless bid for attention.

Des Champs' rendezvous with law enforcement is not unfamiliar territory. In August 2021, he found himself in handcuffs after scaling the Aria on the Strip, protesting against pandemic-related mask mandates. While that episode ended with misdemeanour charges, this time around, Des Champs faces a more serious legal reckoning. He stands accused of felony destruction of personal property and conspiracy to destroy property, charges that could carry significant consequences.

As the saga of "The Official Pro-Life Spider-Man" unfolds, questions linger about the motivations behind these death-defying antics and the efficacy of such attention-grabbing tactics. For now, Des Champs remains a figure straddling the thin line between activism and audacity, his fate uncertain as legal proceedings loom on the horizon.
