A petition demanding that cut scenes from "Stranger Things" Season 5 be released has gotten more than 140,000 signatures. UPI

The final chapter of Stranger Things is facing mounting backlash from its most devoted fans. As the series approaches its conclusion, frustration has spilled beyond social media and into organized action, with a rapidly growing petition demanding answers from Netflix and the show’s creators.

More than 140,000 fans have now signed a Change.org petition calling for the release of alleged deleted scenes from Season 5, Volume 2. Supporters believe key moments and character arcs were cut, leaving the ending feeling rushed and incomplete.

The petition has become a rallying point for disappointed viewers who waited nearly a decade for the series finale.

Petition Accuses Netflix Of Cutting Key Material

The petition was launched by a fan identified as Wennii J. In the description, the organizer claims that significant footage was removed before release.

According to the petition, fans believe scenes were cut either by Netflix executives or during post-production decisions. The organizer argues that the final episodes do not reflect what was promised through cast interviews and promotional material.

“This was a 10-year journey,” the petition states. “And this is what we get.”

Supporters are urging others to sign, post videos, and push hashtags to pressure Netflix and creators Matt and Ross Duffer. Some fans have dubbed the controversy “Cutgate.”

Claims Of Missing Character Arcs

Fueling the outrage is a Google document circulating widely among fans. The document claims to outline entire storylines and scenes that were allegedly filmed but removed.

Among the rumored cuts are longer confrontations between Will Byers and Vecna. The document also claims a private basement scene between Will and Mike was removed.

One of the most dramatic allegations involves a fake-out death for Will that never appeared on screen.

The document cites past interviews with cast members and creatives, suggesting inconsistencies between what was teased and what aired.

Fans Question Writing And Pacing

Many fans argue that Volume 2 feels sharply different from Volume 1. They point out that much of the same writing team worked on both halves.

“This isn’t just disappointment,” the document’s author wrote. “It’s confusion.”

Critics say key information is told through dialogue rather than shown visually. Others argue the pacing feels uneven, with emotional beats lacking proper buildup.

Some fans have gone further, accusing Netflix of excessive executive interference late in production.

Visual Quality Also Under Scrutiny

Beyond story complaints, viewers have raised concerns about technical aspects of the final season. Online discussions highlight issues with cinematography and special effects.

At least one noticeable continuity error has also been widely shared, adding to perceptions that the season was rushed.

While none of these claims have been acknowledged publicly, they have intensified scrutiny as the finale nears.

Silence From Netflix And Creators

So far, Netflix and the Duffer Brothers have not responded to the petition or the allegations. No confirmation has been given regarding deleted scenes or altered storylines.

With the series finale scheduled for December 31, fans remain divided between anticipation and disappointment.

For many, the concern goes beyond a single season. Supporters of the petition say they want Stranger Things to be remembered as a complete and carefully crafted story.

Whether the creators will respond remains uncertain. But the reaction shows how deeply invested audiences remain, even as the show prepares to say goodbye.
