Netflix is starting 2026 with a packed slate that leans heavily on star power, proven franchises, and buzzy originals. From another Harlan Coben thriller to a high-stakes live climbing event and the return of Bridgerton, January’s lineup blends comfort viewing with spectacle.

Here’s what subscribers can expect this month.

Harlan Coben Returns on New Year’s Day

Netflix begins the year with yet another adaptation of a Harlan Coben novel. Run Away arrives on January 1, continuing the streamer’s long-running partnership with the bestselling author.

Set in the U.K., the eight-episode series follows a father searching for his runaway daughter. James Nesbitt leads the cast, joined by Minnie Driver, Ruth Jones, Alfred Enoch and Lucian Msamati. As with past Coben hits, expect emotional family drama, layered secrets and plenty of late-episode twists. The show is adapted by Danny Brocklehurst, who previously delivered Fool Me Once and Missing You.

A Prestige Mystery Anchors Mid-January

On January 8, Netflix rolls out His & Hers, a slick mystery drama starring and executive produced by Tessa Thompson. Set in Atlanta, the series centers on a television news anchor drawn back to her hometown after a murder.

Jon Bernthal co-stars as a detective whose suspicions grow as Thompson’s character becomes deeply invested in the case. The ensemble cast includes Pablo Schreiber, Crystal Fox and Sunita Mani, positioning the show as one of Netflix’s more prestige-driven January releases.

A Sun-Soaked Rom-Com Break

Romantic comedy fans get their moment on January 9 with People We Meet on Vacation. Based on Emily Henry’s bestselling novel, the film stars Emily Bader and Tom Blyth as longtime friends who reconnect during a series of trips.

The film leans into glossy locations, easy charm and second-chance romance. Supporting roles from Jameela Jamil, Lukas Gage, Alan Ruck and Molly Shannon add comedic weight.

Damon and Affleck Power Netflix’s Big Movie

Netflix’s biggest film release this month arrives January 16 with The Rip. Directed by Joe Carnahan, the action thriller follows Miami police officers whose loyalty unravels after discovering millions in illicit cash.

The cast is stacked, led by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck alongside Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, Kyle Chandler and Scott Adkins. Designed as a high-energy, testosterone-fueled thriller, the film is positioned as a major draw for action fans.

A Live Climb Becomes Must-See Streaming

On January 23, Netflix ventures into live event territory with Skyscraper Live. Free-climbing icon Alex Honnold will attempt to climb Taipei 101 in real time, without ropes.

At 1,667 feet tall, the building ranks among the world’s tallest. The event follows the climber’s rise to fame after the Oscar-winning documentary Free Solo and marks one of Netflix’s boldest live stunts to date.

Bridgerton Returns to Close the Month

January ends with the return of one of Netflix’s biggest franchises. Bridgerton Season 4, Part 1 premieres on January 29, shifting focus to Benedict Bridgerton.

Luke Thompson headlines the season, which introduces a masked romance at a masquerade ball. The cast includes Nicola Coughlan, Claudia Jessie, Hannah Dodd and Katie Leung. The season is split in two, with Part 2 scheduled for late February.

Library Titles Get a Refresh

Alongside originals, Netflix is adding dozens of licensed films in January. Highlights include Dune, 12 Years a Slave, District 9, Free Solo, Erin Brockovich, Man on Fire, Pitch Perfect and Twins.

The mix of prestige dramas, cult favorites and crowd-pleasers rounds out a month designed to appeal across age groups and viewing habits.

January may be a quieter month theatrically, but Netflix isn’t slowing down.
