Canada is set to mark its 157th birthday this year with dazzling fireworks displays across the nation. However, the weather might play spoilsport depending on where you are.

Here’s a look at the forecast and fireworks plans for Canada Day celebrations in 2024.

St. John's: Expect a damp and breezy day with light rain showers totaling between two to four millimeters. Winds will vary between 20 to 60 km/h throughout the day and evening, with temperatures dropping to 14°C by nightfall. Unfortunately, the city has canceled its fireworks due to ongoing provincial fire bans.

Halifax: Fog and up to 20 mm of rain are anticipated, continuing into the evening. If weather permits, fireworks are scheduled along the waterfront from 10 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Charlottetown: Mainly cloudy with a 60% chance of rain and highs of 20°C are expected. The fireworks display at Victoria Park in Charlottetown Harbour is scheduled for 10 p.m., with special accommodations for those with sensory sensitivities.

Fredericton: A mix of sun and clouds with daytime highs reaching 25°C, cooling down to 11°C by evening. Fireworks will light up the sky from the Westmorland Street Bridge at approximately 10:40 p.m.

Quebec City: After a thunderstorm warning, anticipate clear skies with highs of 26°C during the day. An immersive laser show is scheduled at Edwin-Belanger Bandstand at 9:30 p.m.

Montreal: Clear and sunny weather with temperatures up to 25°C is expected. Fireworks over the Old Port of Montreal are planned for 10 p.m.

Ottawa: Clear skies throughout the day with temperatures peaking at 25°C and dipping to 12°C. Multiple locations including LeBreton Flats and Rideau Carleton Raceway will host fireworks displays starting around 10 p.m.

Toronto: Sunny skies with highs of 25°C. Although there won't be fireworks at Nathan Phillips Square, other locations like Ashbridges Bay Park, Centennial Park, Milliken Park, and Stan Wadlow Park will host shows beginning at 10 p.m.

Winnipeg: Expect a mainly cloudy day with rain showers, possible thunderstorms, and winds gusting up to 60 km/h. Fireworks at Princess Auto Stadium are planned for 10:30 p.m.

Saskatoon: Cloudy skies with a 60% chance of rain, reaching highs of 18°C and lows of 12°C. Fireworks are scheduled from Broadway Bridge at 10:30 p.m.

Regina: Similar conditions with a 60% chance of rain throughout the day and potential thunderstorms. Fireworks at Wascana Park are set for 10:30 p.m.

Edmonton: A 60% chance of rain and potential thunderstorms in the afternoon, clearing up by evening with highs of 23°C. Fireworks over the river valley and North Saskatchewan River are planned for 11 p.m.

Vancouver: Cloudy start with clearing expected by noon and highs of 20°C. Fireworks displays in Burnaby, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, and Surrey are scheduled for 10 p.m.
