Mayim Bialik made a public announcement on Friday regarding her departure from the role of host on "Jeopardy!"

Taking to social media, the "Big Bang Theory" actress shared the news, stating that Sony had communicated her removal as the host of the syndicated version of the renowned quiz show. Without delving into specifics about the reasons behind her exit, the 48-year-old expressed her gratitude for the recognition of an Emmy nomination received this year in the category of outstanding game show host. She also conveyed appreciation for the opportunity to be a part of the "Jeopardy!" family.

CBS News reached out to Sony Pictures Television, responsible for producing "Jeopardy!," seeking comments on the matter, though there has been no response as yet.

Back in July 2022, Sony had appointed both Bialik and Ken Jennings, a top contestant in the show's history, as permanent hosts, sharing hosting responsibilities between them. They were previously among the rotating guest hosts who had stepped in following the passing of long-time host Alex Trebek in 2020.

"Jeopardy!" encountered significant turmoil in August 2021 when Mike Richards, then the show's executive producer, was initially named as a permanent host alongside Bialik. However, he swiftly resigned about a week later due to past inappropriate remarks that surfaced online.

In May, Bialik opted out of hosting the final week of "Jeopardy!" season 39 in solidarity with the Hollywood writers' strike.
