Quaker Oats issued a recall on several of its granola items, such as granola bars and cereals, due to potential contamination with salmonella. Salmonella can lead to symptoms like fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain, with rare instances resulting in fatalities, as per the Food and Drug Administration.

PepsiCo-owned Quaker assured in a press statement that there have been no reported cases of salmonella infections linked to the recalled granola products. The affected products, including granola oats cereals and Quaker Chewy Bars (found in PepsiCo's snack mixes), have been distributed nationwide across all 50 U.S. states and territories.

Quaker advises customers in possession of the recalled items to dispose of them and reach out to their customer support line or visit the recall website for further details and reimbursement. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that the U.S. sees around 1.35 million cases of salmonella infection annually, resulting in approximately 26,500 hospitalizations and 420 deaths.
