Amsterdam is gearing up to celebrate a remarkable milestone—its 750th anniversary in 2025. The Dutch capital is planning a year-long celebration with various events designed to highlight the city's rich history, diverse culture, and bright future. These festivities will bring together locals and tourists for an unforgettable experience. Here's a sneak peek at some of the key events you can look forward to in this special year.

24 Hours Amsterdam

Throughout 2025, Amsterdam will feature a series called "24 Hours." Each event will focus on a different district in the city. On each of these days, local theaters, museums, and businesses will open their doors to host workshops, performances, and exclusive tours. Be sure to mark your calendar for the following dates: March 22 (Centrum), April 12 (Zuidoost), May 17 (Weesp), September 13 (Noord), and October 11 (Zuid).

Future Fest

One of the highlights of the anniversary celebrations will be Future Fest, which runs from June 12 to 21. This event, also known as "ToekomstTiendaagse," will offer exhibitions, conferences, and open houses, all focusing on Amsterdam’s future. On June 21, the longest day of the year, the Ring A10, usually a busy traffic route, will be transformed into a lively 15-kilometer venue for a parade of music, dance, and performances.

SAIL Amsterdam 2025

SAIL Amsterdam, the iconic maritime festival, will return for its 10th edition from August 20 to 24. This event is a must-see for anyone who loves history and the sea. Tall ships will gather along the city’s canals, providing an opportunity for visitors to admire these historic vessels and learn about Amsterdam’s maritime heritage. The festival also celebrates its own 50th anniversary, as it was first held in 1975.

King’s Day

Every year, King’s Day on April 27 turns the entire city into one massive street party. In 2025, expect an even more vibrant atmosphere as the city celebrates its 750th birthday. The streets will be filled with music, flea markets, and legendary canal parties, truly capturing the Dutch spirit of celebration.

Queer & Pride Amsterdam

From July 26 to August 3, Amsterdam will host one of the world’s largest LGBTQI+ celebrations—Queer & Pride Amsterdam. The event will feature dance parties, sports events, film screenings, and panel discussions, with the Canal Parade being the highlight. This festival is a time for everyone to celebrate diversity and equality in a city known for its inclusiveness.

Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE)

The Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) is a major electronic music festival that takes place every October. In 2025, ADE will run from October 22 to 26, featuring over 2,500 artists across numerous venues. With thousands of music lovers from all over the world, this event also serves as an important networking opportunity for musicians, producers, and DJs.
