Embratur has introduced a new digital platform that invites visitors to explore the country through its deep love for football. The initiative, called the Football Route, presents four unique travel paths built around the sport’s history, famous locations, and everyday experiences.

Officials have shared the content through the agency’s website and social media pages, making it easy for travellers around the world to access.

A Fresh Way to Explore Brazil

The platform aims to turn the global passion for football into a real travel experience. It guides visitors through places that shape the sport’s identity in Brazil. These include historic stadiums, museums, club spaces, and popular fan hangouts.

The project focuses mainly on Rio de Janeiro, a city known for its strong football culture and famous clubs. Officials see this as the first step, with plans to expand the idea to other parts of the country in the future.

Easy Access for Global Visitors

The platform supports several languages, including Portuguese, English, and Spanish. It brings together key details in one place so visitors can plan their trips with ease.

Travellers can also check a full football calendar for Rio. This includes major tournaments such as Campeonato Carioca, Brasileirão, Copa do Brasil, and Copa Libertadores. With this information, fans can schedule their visits around live matches.

Four Unique Football Journeys

Match Day Experience

This route lets visitors enjoy a full match-day atmosphere. It combines food, culture, and sport. Travellers can visit lively bars and restaurants near stadiums before heading to the game. Each experience reflects the spirit of Rio’s major clubs, including Botafogo, Flamengo, Fluminense, and Vasco da Gama.

History and Club Legacy

This path takes visitors inside the historic homes of Rio’s football clubs. These locations hold deep meaning and tell stories from the early days of the sport.

From Laranjeiras, known for hosting Brazil’s first national team match, to São Januário, built as a symbol of inclusion, each site offers a unique look into football’s past.

Famous Stadiums

This route highlights two of the city’s most important stadiums. The modern Nilton Santos Stadium represents today’s football, while the Maracanã stands as one of the sport’s most iconic venues.

The Maracanã has hosted unforgettable events, including major finals and historic goals, making it a must-visit for fans.

Classic Rivalries

This journey focuses on famous football rivalries in Rio. Each match tells a story filled with history, emotion, and competition. From long-standing clashes to legendary encounters, these games shape the city’s football identity.

Boosting Tourism Through Sport

The Football Route forms part of a broader effort to promote Brazil as a top destination for sports and cultural travel. Officials plan to share the platform worldwide through campaigns and partnerships with travel and sports communities.
