Canada’s Wonderland will require younger visitors to attend with an adult during evening hours throughout the 2026 season. The park has made this rule permanent after first introducing it last fall.
Under the updated policy, all guests aged 15 and under must have a chaperone after 4 p.m. The accompanying adult must be at least 21 years old. Each adult may supervise no more than 10 young visitors.
“At Canada’s Wonderland, we’re committed to providing a safe, enjoyable environment for all our guests,” the park said in a statement.
Focus on Safety and Experience
The park introduced a similar rule during last year’s Halloween event. At that time, younger guests could not remain in the park after 6 p.m. without adult supervision. Officials brought in the measure after reports of “unruly and inappropriate” behaviour at other entertainment venues.
“A safe, family-friendly atmosphere is the type of experience our guests expect and deserve at Canada’s Wonderland,” the park said earlier.
This time, management has decided to extend the rule across the full operating season.
A Preventive Approach
Grace Peacock, a spokesperson for Six Flags Entertainment Corporation, described the decision as a preventive step.
“This is really a proactive measure for us,” she said.
She explained that similar rules have appeared at large entertainment venues, especially in the United States. Parks without such policies have seen more incidents involving young visitors.
Peacock added that the rule does more than address behaviour. She said it also improves safety in case of emergencies.
“It is not just about the possibility of kids getting up to trouble. I think this is safety issue as well. We would prefer there to be an adult on site who is responsible for youth in case there is a medical issue, perhaps,” she said.
“Having an adult on site that we can access really quickly helps us respond better so overall we are hoping this is going to be a good safety measure for us this year.”
How the Rule Will Work
Staff will begin by informing guests about the new policy. Peacock said the park expects a period of adjustment as visitors become familiar with the changes.
“It is going to be a lot of education and awareness. I think we are not going to be unreasonable when we are chatting with folks that aren’t aware,” she said.
If young guests arrive without an adult after 4 p.m., staff will ask them to contact a guardian. Those without a chaperone will not be allowed to stay in the park.
Opening Day and New Attractions
The park will open for the 2026 season on May 3, with early access for season pass holders on May 1.
Visitors can also look forward to updates and new experiences. The park will relaunch a popular ride, previously known as Top Gun, under a new theme called The DareDeviler. The updated version will offer smoother movement and improved seating for riders.
In addition, the park will introduce new food options, including fresh desserts and savoury items. A newly renamed sweet shop will also offer a wider selection of treats.
Looking Ahead
Canada’s Wonderland aims to create a safer and more enjoyable environment as it prepares for a busy season. By making the chaperone rule permanent, the park hopes to maintain a welcoming space for families and visitors of all ages.
