Reichel scored twice as the Blackhawks beat the Blues 8-3 while playing without Foligno.

The Chicago Blackhawks delivered a stunning offensive performance, thrashing the St. Louis Blues 8-3 on Wednesday night. Lukas Reichel led the charge with two goals and an assist, marking his first career multigoal game and helping the Blackhawks secure their second consecutive win.

Blackhawks Show Depth Despite Missing Captain

The Blackhawks entered the game without captain Nick Foligno, who is on leave while his daughter undergoes follow-up heart surgery. Despite his absence, Chicago showed remarkable depth and unity, playing one of their most balanced games of the season.

Rising star Connor Bedard orchestrated the attack with three assists, while Ilya Mikheyev added a goal and an assist. The win followed their 3-1 triumph over Utah on Monday, signaling growing confidence and chemistry in the lineup.

Blues Falter After Strong Start

St. Louis started strong with goals from Jake Neighbours, Dylan Holloway, and Tyler Tucker. However, their momentum quickly faded as defensive lapses and goaltending struggles opened the door for Chicago’s offensive surge.

Goaltender Joel Hofer had a rough outing, allowing four goals on 14 shots before being pulled midway through the second period. Jordan Binnington stepped in briefly, making six saves, but Hofer returned in the third, finishing with 15 saves overall.

Second-Period Explosion Turns the Tide

The game shifted decisively in the second period when the Blackhawks scored three unanswered goals. Reichel’s second goal of the night at 2:49 gave Chicago a 3-2 lead. Frank Nazar followed with a quick strike at 4:32, and Jason Dickinson added his first goal of the season at 8:52 to make it 5-2.

From that point on, the Blackhawks controlled every aspect of the game, showing speed, precision, and relentless pressure.

Finishing Strong with a Statement

In the third period, Chicago continued its dominance. Ryan Donato, Teuvo Teravainen, and rookie Ryan Greene all found the net. Greene’s first career goal at 12:21 sealed the deal and gave the Blackhawks their first eight-goal outing since March 8, 2022, when they beat Anaheim by the same score.

Reichel’s Breakout Performance

For Reichel, this night was one to remember. His energy and accuracy set the tone early, and his connection with Bedard and Mikheyev kept the Blues defense on its heels. His first multigoal performance highlighted his growing confidence and importance in Chicago’s lineup.

Building Momentum Early in the Season

After a slow start to the season, the Blackhawks appear to be finding their rhythm. With back-to-back wins and improved play in both zones, they’re showing signs of becoming a cohesive and competitive squad.

Even without Foligno’s leadership on the ice, the team rallied behind a shared sense of purpose and emotion — a tribute to their captain’s resilience and family spirit.
