Switzerland urges caution for travellers to Canada and six other nations due to growing unrest and safety concerns. Travel Tour & World

Switzerland has issued new travel advisories for several countries, including Canada, France, Brazil, Germany, Turkey, Hungary, and Costa Rica. The updated guidance comes as political protests, public unrest, and safety concerns continue to grow across these destinations.

Authorities say travel remains possible. However, they urge extra care due to unpredictable events like protests, crime, and service disruptions.

Why Canada Is on the List
Canada usually ranks as one of the safest travel spots in the world. But recent protests in cities like Toronto, Vancouver, and Ottawa have raised concern. While most of these gatherings are peaceful, some could turn tense or lead to delays, especially if roads are blocked or police respond with force.

Travellers should avoid protest zones and keep an eye on local updates.

Other Risk Factors in Canada
Petty crime is another issue, especially in busy areas like shopping streets, bus terminals, and tourist spots. People should stay alert, guard their belongings, and avoid carrying large sums of cash.

Canada’s harsh winters can also cause problems. Snowstorms and freezing rain make roads dangerous. Travellers should check weather updates often and take extra care when driving or enjoying winter sports.

Concerns in Other Countries
France is also seeing more strikes and street protests. These can delay trains, close roads, and affect access to shops or public buildings. The risk of terrorist attacks, though not new, still remains. Travellers are asked to stay alert, especially in crowded places.

Brazil is facing political tensions and high crime rates in some cities. Visitors are warned to stay away from large gatherings and avoid isolated areas after dark.

Germany has seen a rise in political protests. Though mostly peaceful, clashes can happen. The advisory also warns about pickpocketing in tourist zones.

Turkey has seen unrest in some areas. Cities like Istanbul may experience demonstrations that cause travel problems. The eastern and southern regions near Syria and Iraq are considered high-risk and should be avoided.

Hungary is dealing with its own wave of protests. Tourists are warned not to join any public demonstrations. Petty crimes like theft and car break-ins are also a concern.

Costa Rica remains a favourite for nature lovers, but rising crime and local protests have sparked warnings. Tourists should take special care in urban and rural areas, especially after dark. Travel delays and safety risks are possible.

Stay Informed, Stay Safe
Switzerland's updated travel advisories aim to help people plan smarter and safer trips. Travellers are encouraged to research local conditions, avoid large crowds, and follow advice from local officials. Keeping a flexible itinerary and staying alert to the news are also important steps to reduce risk.
