The Turks and Caicos Islands have posted impressive tourism numbers for 2025, showing steady growth and a promising outlook for 2026. According to data from Experience Turks and Caicos (ETC), the official tourism authority, the islands welcomed two million visitors in 2025, marking a two percent increase from the previous year.

Record Numbers and Promising Start to 2026

2025 saw record-breaking tourism for the destination, with the momentum carrying over into the first months of 2026. January 2026 arrivals have already increased by two percent compared to the same period last year, signaling another successful year ahead for the islands.

Throughout 2025, key tourism segments performed strongly. From January to December, the number of overnight, land-based visitors reached 640,754. The United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom remained key source markets, providing a steady stream of visitors to the islands.

December 2025 was especially strong, with a seven percent increase in arrivals year-over-year. This surge pointed to a positive start to the peak winter season and gave the destination a strong foundation as it moved into 2026.

Cruise Tourism Continues to Grow

Cruise tourism in the Turks and Caicos also saw significant growth in 2025. The islands welcomed about 1.3 million cruise passengers, marking a five percent increase from 2024. December saw the strongest cruise arrivals, with a 22 percent year-over-year increase. This surge was supported by the arrival of 11 additional cruise ships in Grand Turk during the month, bringing even more visitors to the islands.

Improved Safety Contributes to Tourism Success

In addition to the strong tourism numbers, the islands also saw a marked improvement in safety, which contributed to a positive overall visitor experience. According to ETC, violent crime decreased by 40 percent in 2025, thanks to strengthened safety measures and increased police presence. This improvement helped reinforce the reputation of the Turks and Caicos Islands as a safe and welcoming destination, further boosting the appeal of the islands to travelers.

Paul Pennicook, interim CEO consultant for ETC, expressed pride in the islands' consistent tourism performance. He said, "Our continued growth reflects the enduring appeal of our islands, the strength of our partnerships and trust by valued operators, and our commitment to delivering an exceptional visitor experience."

Exciting New Developments in 2026

As the tourism sector continues to grow, several new luxury accommodations are set to open in 2026. These new properties will enhance the islands’ tourism offering while maintaining the intimate, low-density approach that makes the Turks and Caicos unique.

Some of the key openings include:

  • Hotel Indigo Turks & Caicos: Opened on March 1, 2026, this 56-room resort is just steps from Grace Bay Beach. It features an infinity pool, restaurant, café, and outdoor cinema, with curated experiences like snorkeling excursions.
  • Beaches Turks & Caicos – Treasure Beach Village: Also opened on March 1, 2026, this $150 million expansion adds 101 multi-bedroom suites and villas, including options with concierge and butler services, as well as the luxurious Treasure Beach CrystalSky Reserve Villas.
  • Andaz Turks & Caicos at Grace Bay: Set to open in the spring of 2026, this Hyatt-branded property will feature 59 hotel rooms and 74 residences, all located along the famous Grace Bay Beach.
  • The Point: Set to open in late 2026, this new residential development will offer oceanfront homes and complement the existing portfolio of Grace Bay Resorts.

These new developments will not only increase the number of available accommodations but also bring innovative dining, wellness offerings, and curated experiences to the islands, ensuring that visitors have access to world-class amenities.
