An Air Canada flight heading to Toronto from Denver made an emergency return after takeoff on Sunday morning. The airline confirmed that Flight 1038 turned back due to a reported electrical issue. The incident happened on August 31, shortly after the Airbus A220 left Denver.

Acrid smell triggers alarm

Air Canada said the crew noticed a strong smell in one of the galleys. The crew acted quickly and decided to return the plane to Denver International Airport. The aircraft landed safely at around 8:15 a.m. local time.

Emergency evacuation

The airline explained that 117 passengers and five crew members evacuated the plane using emergency slides. The evacuation happened as a precaution. One passenger received minor injuries during the process. Emergency teams arrived on the scene soon after the landing.

FAA launches investigation

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the incident. In a statement, the agency said the flight crew reported a possible electrical fire. The FAA has opened an investigation to find out what caused the problem.

Airline working on travel plans

After the evacuation, passengers returned to the terminal. Air Canada said it is arranging alternative flights for those affected. The airline added that safety remains its top priority.

Passengers shaken but safe

Though the event created panic, all passengers reached safety. Airport staff assisted them while the airline worked on travel plans. The Airbus A220 stayed grounded for checks as officials continued their investigation.
